Description
The first self propelled movement through the water is most definalty a huge achievement for many children. They will be able to hold a stable prone body position and propel themselves forwards on their front using their arms and their legs whilst using aids. This may well be towards the parent/carer or the teacher.
Disability
This is the 1st stage of water confidence. Being able to move in any manner with aids without the reassurance or support of an adult holding them. Been able to float in the water themselves in a relaxed manner is a key step in learning to swim.
