Description
Part of the submerging core of swimming, the swimmer needs to have the ability to dive down off the water surface (without using the floor or wall).
The swimmer has to show good body control and be streamlined, with no reliance to push off from a solid structure to change their orientation and movement in the water.
The swimmer must be competent in performing head first surface dives and feet first surface dives. The difficulty of this award can be adjusted by yourself depending on your scheme and the swimmers ability.
Lesson ideas
Items can be sunk on the pool floor as a target for the swimmer to aim for or through weighted hoops or even to touch the floor with both hands/feet.
This award is the development from a handstand which was produced from a standing position, the swimmer must maintaining the vertical streamline position throughout.
