Being able to perform a correct tumble-turn depends on many factors which as a teacher you can break down into stages. Starting with the ability to tuck up small (watch me mushroom float), rotate in the water ( somersault) combined with the knowledge of when to turn against a wall.
Some swimmers may find it easier to rotate on the spot with floats under each arm or bouncing on the pool floor for momentum. Aquatic breathing also plays a part in a successful turn and this can be practiced as a skill set at the end of a lesson.
