Travel on Front is the first real award for independent movement by a swimmer with aids on.
Swimmers must have the ability and confidence to self propel, unsupported a suggested distance of 5m on their front using their arms and/or their legs.
As this award is aimed at swimmers new to the water, lessons need to be engaging and involving for them with support and encouragement.
They may be more willing to follow someone else’s lead who understands what the task is.
Games can be made fun by races in teams with a mix of weaker and stronger swimmers per team.
Eye to eye level contact is always a positive way to offer support and focus the swimmer if they are nervous, especially if they are used to having support close by.
