Description
Following on from the ability to submerge, hunt for treasure is about moving whilst submerged. The swimmer must show the ability to sink and search for named objects scattered on the pool floor and retrieve them.

Lesson ideas
Combining submerging and moving underwater, the swimmer can actively hunt by repeatedly surfacing and diving down for treasure on the pool floor.
Remember to keep the objects within the swimmers capability.
Ideas for objects can be sinkers with numbers on the swimmer has to find a particular number or colour. The idea of this skill is to lengthen the time the swimmer is under the water and increasing their movement as well. It is important for the swimmer to be able to direct themselves above and below the water so this award also helps with the swimmers orientation of the pool.
For the more experienced swimmer, weighted hoops can be added for the swimmers to swim through when they push off.
