Description
This award shows the swimmer has the ability to self propel themselves underwater.
Swim underwater is not only a very fun thing to do or shows water confidence but it is also the corner stone on many areas of swimming eg, ability to move underwater for a distance which the swimmer will need to achieve for competitive turns, control of aquatic breathing and streamlining.
This award can be awarded for leg only movement, arm only movement or arm and leg movement to suit your scheme and requirements.
Lesson ideas
Swimming underwater can be a real swimmer highlight to finish lessons off on. Games can be made for traveling underwater and can include: who can travel the furthest underwater, who can collect several items from the pool floor or the ability to change orientation and travel along the pool floor on their front or moving through the water on their back looking up to the water surface.
Weighted hoops can be used at intervals and swimmers have to pass through them using only their legs or arms.
Colours displayed may differ slightly from the actual product due to various factors like screen display, lighting, or the way different people perceive colours.
