Be Brave
£0.60 – £1.75Price range: £0.60 through £1.75
A real confidence booster award to reward overcoming a fear in a teacher lead class (with aids).
PS7
Description
This unique award can be personalised by the swimming teacher for the element the swimmer has worked hard to over come.
Swimming is very challenging and takes a lot of confidence and self belief. This award is designed for children who always work hard and try their best to overcome their own fears/obstacles and achieve this through their determination to step outside their comfort zone.
Additional needs
Children with any disability are always brave and even more so when going into an unknown environment.
This award is open to use as you wish, as well as being re-issued when needed. It could be for the child who gets into the water for the 1st time after sat on the side for a few weeks or when aids are first removed. The possibilities are endless.
Lesson ideas
If a swimmer can see someone else trying to do a task then they are more likely to try it too. If a teacher leads through example in the introduction of new areas to be explored it can break down the initial barrier of a swimmer not wanting to try it.
Remember different children learn in different ways so use a variety of ways to get the same information across as a different way may sound less daunting.
It may take months or years for a child to secure a single element that frightens them so you may both get frustrated at times. Keep chipping away and remember small steps will achieve the overall goal.
Colours displayed may differ slightly from the actual product due to various factors like screen display, lighting, or the way different people perceive colours.
