Disability/Additional needs

Every child has a right to learn to swim, and every child’s learning process and development is as individual as they are.

Watch Me awards have been specifically designed to ensure inclusion is the key component, at every stage, for every child. Our awards are simple, bite-sized, one task/step/skill with-in swimming, so the Watch me scheme can be adjusted by yourself and easily integrated into your current scheme (if you have one), be that a swim school, social club or school.

We understand more support may be needed for swimmers with additional needs, a disability or a mental illness for them to achieve certain elements. Realising that many existing swimming awards may not offer celebration and success awards for mile stone/key skill achievements, we felt it was an opportunity to widen our scheme. Now there is an extensive swimming awards scheme for all, with numerous awards specifically designed for the early stages of the swimming journey. Certificates that include watch my confidence grow, being brave, splash my toes and move on my front. The criteria outlined for each award is not solid, so you can adapt each certificate and its suggested requirements to suit each individuals ability.

These awards can be issued by swimming groups, social groups, holiday groups, weekly groups or those groups who go swimming occasionally. If you only want to support 1 or 2 key skill awards, then that is all you need to purchase.

Our range of well done awards have space for additional remarks/comments to be inserted when needed. The selection of well done awards can all be issued a multiple times, as there is an insert area for what has been achieved. Our well done stickers are colourful and again show a good effort, attendance or achievement. There are also themed certificates for you to insert a picture or photograph.

Below are some award suggestions for you, each award has a description, how it can aid the individual and also lesson plan ideas which you can adapt. Remember, Watch me awards are chosen by yourself, for each of your individual swimmers, strength’s and/or weaknesses.

Watch me awards are for everyone.

‘my autistic son absolutely loves the watchme certificates and badges. In between grades they encourage him to try his best, have helped increase his confidence in the pool as well as keeping him motivated. These bitesize steps show him that his hard work is being rewarded and help celebrate his achievements, it also helps that they are super cute’
